Sunday nature journal - Sounds, Silhouttes and Snags

Nature is full of surprises,  at times the most unexpected can happen. The Pileated Woodpecker is not supposed to be in my home backyard, there are populations to the south in the Indiana Dunes area and to the north in Wisconsin, but these birds are not migratory and are believed not to stray far from home territory. So this encounter is very unusual and so far the only one that I have been able to record. Could this individual be the exception to the rule? A sort of Columbus that dares to stray into new territory and eventually make its way back home.
